Honda only saw the need to make minor changes to its 2002 S2000. Probably the most important change was the replacement of the cheap and flimsy plastic rear window with one made of glass, with a built-in defroster. Honda heeded customers' and reviewers' complaints about the rear window fogging up and scratching easily, and replaced it with a slightly smaller glass unit which did not fog up or get scratched. The downsides of this change were slightly more weight and a slightly more restricted rearward view (due to the smaller window size).
Other minor changes for 2002 included an upgraded transmission with even smoother and quicker shifts. Honda also added chrome rings around the taillights, and made minor interior improvements. Finally, a new color, Suzuka Blue, was added to the options sheet, as was a new interior color (blue leather) to compliment it. Finally, Honda made additional minor suspension tweaks in 2002 to make the car handle more neutrally and enable better transition driving (i.e. a slalom).
